MARRIAGE COUNSELLING

The process should begin at least four months prior to the wedding and involves filling out an online multiple-choice questionnaire, that will give your counselor a comprehensive overall picture of your relationship.

The questionnaire is not a test that you pass or fail, but is part of an assessment instrument that helps to explore aspects of the relationship, such as marriage expectations; personality issues; communication; conflict resolution; financial management; leisure activities; sexual expectations; children and parenting; family and friends; relationship roles; spiritual beliefs; closeness and flexibility in the couple’s relationship; and in the couple’s families of origins.

There are usually three, one hour follow-up sessions, which involve discussing aspects of the questionnaire results as summarised in a report. The cost of the online questionnaire is $46.00 [first one logging on will be asked to pay]. The total cost of the Counselling sessions is $300.00. The cost covers the counselling sessions [min 3], course, workbooks, report and all administration.

Your counselor can also help you by supplying a checklist of what needs to be completed in preparation for the wedding, such as forms to complete, things to organise etc.
