The Greatest Act of Love

WHO IS JESUS?

“Is God real?” is a common question that a lot of people ask. I’m sure you’re also wondering the same question. “Are all the things I’ve heard about Jesus really true?”…”And if it is true… what does He have to do with me?”

The Bible may not answer every question about God – and could very well lead us to ask more – but one of the areas the Bible answers clearly is the question: Who is Jesus?

Jesus celebrated the Apostle Peter’s response to this same question. He said Jesus is “the Messiah, the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16). Jesus is so unique because He is not only the Son of God but also the Son of Man – born of a virgin. Two worlds collide in Him: heaven and earth, the divine and the human.

Jesus came for one mission – and one mission only – to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). You may be wondering who are the lost? We are the lost. We lost our right-standing with God, living in a sinful world, thinking sinful thoughts, doing sinful things.

But God, who so loved the world [us] that He chose to give His Son [Jesus] to take our place. Where we were deserving the worst punishment for the things we’ve done, He willingly came and gave us His best. He humbled Himself and came and walked with us, talked with us, ate with us, and showed us His love by being among us. Jesus could have come to us in a grander way, but that was not what He wanted. He took a body like ours, and came to save us.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave His son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

THE HEART OF GOD

We are God’s masterpiece. He created us as creatures in His own likeness, and breathed His breath of life into us. He desired relationship and for His creation to enjoy in all the things He had created for them – a beautiful world where everything was perfect. God created us with the amazing gift of free will, where we can make our own choices – He didn’t create us to be robots.

One day His creation were tricked by the one who wanted to destroy all God had created. Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God came with consequences and sin entered the world, separating us from the Holiness and Perfection of God – as we were now beings filled with sin.

With sin entering the world, death also reigned over God’s creation. He saw how awful that His creation – generation after generation – were passing away, and humanity had become corrupted by wickedness. God took pity on our race, and had mercy on our weakness because no matter how much we tried, we can’t make up for all our sins.

Since death was the only atonement for our sins, Jesus sacrificed His body and taking our place. He conquered death and sickness. He conquered the enemy, freeing us from the enslavement to sin – bring us into His light. Now death no longer reigns over us. Jesus gave us a new beginning.

Jesus became what we are that He might make us what He is.

JESUS LOVES YOU!

Does Jesus really care for me? Yes, He does! Does Jesus really love me? Yes, He does!

We often disqualify ourselves from receiving God’s love because of our past; our failures, our mistakes, how we’ve treated people, how we’re living our life, the things we are currently doing. But what Jesus did on the cross with His sacrifice was so that we can know God the Father and have a personal relationship with Him – no longer being separated by sin.

All we have to do is repent of our sins, believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour and receive the forgiveness and the love of God in our life. No matter what you’ve done, no matter who you are, God’s love for you is greater than all your mistakes.

A NEW BEGINNING

To accept and believe Jesus Christ, is to submit to Him and His plans and purpose for your life. It’s to turn from your old way of living, and turn to Jesus, to ask Him for forgiveness from our sin. Romans 10:9 says: “If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that god raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, and we become His children – adopted into His family. We are given a new life, a new beginning through Jesus. If you are not sure whether you are right with God or you know that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying a prayer of surrender to Jesus.

Dear Jesus, I’m praying this prayer because I know that I have sinned and lived life on my terms. I am sorry for every wrong thing I have done and I trust that you will forgive me. I thank you for dying on the cross for my sin and for all my mistakes. I accept your love and grace for me and ask that You would be Lord of my life. Have your way in my life. Help me to believe in You and love You every day. Help me to show the world what You are like and how great Your love is.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Congratulations! To pray these words with a surrendered heart to Jesus is the beginning to the most exciting journey you will ever embark on.
